Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
Looking back at the task the thing i have learnt the most is time management. i feel as if i would have put a little bit more time into my product i could have finished with a better result. Looking at the preliminary task it is evident that my skills using Photoshop have increased. i also feel i have learnt the impotence of research, this is a very important step as it is better to remain conventional when making a magazine so it appeals to specific subcultures.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
Whilst doing this project i have learnt the impotence of Photoshop with in the industry. I have been watching YouTube tutorials on Photoshop so i am able to construct a magazine using the conventions of the industry. With Photoshop my knowledge was very poor but since this project i feel a lot more confident about using such tech and now understand its impotence with in the industry. I have also learnt a lot more about presentation tools such as prezi and powtoon. Going onto hardware i had to learn how to set up appropriate lighting to shoot my model with. I also had a play with the camera to see if we could get any cool effects without using software.
How did you attract/address your audience?
I used certain conventions to appeal to my target audience. i made my magazines colour scheme dark to appeal to certain subcultures. i included an add about Leeds and Reading festival as my audience seems to be full of festival goers who are keen to get there hands on any information about the upcoming festival. i also included a competition to win a guitar as my magazine is aimed at the prosumer as well. This will make my audience feel like they could really benefit from the purchase of the magazine. With the photos for my magazine i wanted to use a fresh faced male to appeal to the females as they would intently be interested in the magazine.
Who would be the audience for your media product?
I wanted my magazine to appeal to both males and females. I believe my magazine would appeal to both as both genders seem to be interested in emerging trends. Since i am 19 i used trends that i see in my everyday life and applied it to my magazine as i'm in the middle of the target audience age range. i used conventions that would appeal to these age groups. i have also targeted my magazine towards students and young adults this means they might have a low income so i had to keep this in mind when deciding a price for my magazine.
What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
I believe The Bauer Music Group would be the best institution to distribute my magazine as they already manage the distribution for Karrang! By using BMG they would help distribute my magazine to the right audience. Also BMG would be able to handle distribution on a large scale with there many success stories in the past with magazines of this nature.
How does your media product represent particular social groups?
- My media product is aimed at 16-25 year olds I have made this evident by using conventions that this particular audience can relate too
- My product is aimed at the Rock/Indie subcultures I have done this by using conventions from NME
- I left my magazine dark in theme as it seemed to appeal to my target audience
- When deciding a price for my magazine I had to consider a price that would be ideal for my target audience, i did my research on survey monkey.
- As most of my audience will be students i have tried to make it appeal to them more by using conversions of this subculture. "The New Culture" shows my magazines ideology in the name and is all about upcoming trends in the music scene. this targets the prosumer and the consumer
